Packages I provide deliver an experienced professional to assess the physical health and wellbeing of mother and baby as well as providing professional care information and guidance to increase your comfort and reassurance.
Often referred to as the ‘Cinderella Service’, postnatal care has been cut to a minimum. The postnatal period is a crucial period beyond birth. NHS midwives have postnatal responsibility for you to 28 days. You will generally see a midwife 3 times only.
Women tell me that this fact leaves them feeling vulnerable without enough professional time care and support in a time of great change and new parenthood. Women tell me they do not know where to get support when they need it.
Packages I provide deliver an experienced professional to assess the physical health and wellbeing of mother and baby as well as providing professional care information and guidance to increase your comfort and reassurance. Visits could be arranged in addition to the NHS limited care package if wished.
Postnatal care packages
- Postnatal care could be provided as part of an Independent midwifery care package.
- A single postnatal visit may be requested to answer questions and/or for breastfeeding support.
- A standalone postnatal care package starting with an antenatal visit to discuss service and parents requests.
- Extended postnatal midwifery and health visiting package to baby’s 6 month birthday to take in baby’s ongoing health and development and an introduction to ‘baby weaning’ at 6 months.
Visits will be unrushed in your home so problems or concerns can be addressed. I have links with other health professionals and can refer you if appropriate.
I am a midwife and health visitor with additional expertise in breastfeeding support; complimentary therapies including baby massage tongue-tie division and future family planning.
