In labour I provide ‘one to one’ support and professional guidance to yourself and your birth partner. I keep you informed at all times discussing your options and allowing you time to consider.

I offer reflexology/aromatherapy and massage to women in labour if desired.

I can deliver your baby at home or accompany you to hospital if this is your wish. In hospital I continue to provide continuity of care and aim to build a positive relationship with your hospital carers and act as your advocate

Following the birth of your baby I remain with you for some time to ensure you are well and settled.

Research shows that having the support of your chosen midwife for your birth means you have increased likelihood of achieving the birth you want. Benefits include lower rates of Caesarean Section and other forms of intervention for example medical induction, Ventouse and Forceps delivery. It is also associated with reduced rates of post-natal depression.

I ‘loan’ you a T.E.N.S machine at 37 weeks to be used in labour if desired. I carry all the necessary equipment to ensure you have a safe home delivery.

Should you wish to deliver in hospital please be aware that Independent Midwives within the UK do not have professional indemnity insurance. In hospital you will be covered by the NHS indemnity fund for any issues arising during the time spent on their premises.
